Coaches > East

John Levra
Levra is in his third year as head coach of the East team at the Cactus Bowl. He coached for the following collegiate organizations from 1966 through 1979: New Mexico Highlands; Stephen F. Austin; Kansas; North Texas State. He coached for the following Pro Organizations from 1980 through 2001 – British Columbia Lions of the CFL; New Orleans Saints; Chicago Bears; Denver Broncos; Minnesota Vikings; Buffalo Bills.

Carl Mauck
Mauck is the offensive line coach for the third year. He has been involved with the NFL for 22 years. He played center for the Houston Oilers when Earl Campbell was on the team. He started coaching with the Saints in 1982. He has also worked in Buffalo, Arizona and Tampa Bay.

Johnnie Roland
Roland is the running backs coach for a third year. He played defensive back at Missouri. He was the NFL Rookie of the Year at St. Louis at a running back. He played locally at Corpus Christi Miller High School. He coached at Green Bay, Philadelphia and Chicago in the NFL.

Bill Bradley
Bradley is in his first year as the defensive coordinator at the Cactus Bowl. He is the secondary coach for the Orlando United Football League Team. He has coached in the NFL since 1997 with Buffalo, New York Jets and San Diego.

Jim Elam
Elam is the secondary coach. He is a graduate of King High School in Kingsville, Texas. He was an All-American at New Mexico Highlands University. He served as a high school coach in Artesia, New Mexico. He coached college football at Rice, West Texas, Baylor, Houston, Missouri, Iowa State and Purdue. He was the head high school coach and Athletic Director in Corpus Christi at King and Moody High Schools.

Rex Norris
Norris is the defensive line coach. He attended San Angelo Junior College and is a graduate of East Texas State University. He was a high school coach for six years in Texas and two years at Navarro Junior College. He coached at Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Florida, Tennessee and Texas. He spent nine years in NFL at Detroit, Denver and Chicago.

Gary Griffin
Griffin is the linebackers coach. He retired after 34 years as a successful coach at Odessa Permian, Alice, Midland Lee and George West High Schools. As a college coach, he was at the University of New Mexico, Appalachian State and Valdosta State.

Larry Kueck
Kueck is the quarterbacks and wide receivers coach. He is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University and was an outstanding player there. He coached for four years in Texas high schools. He was an outstanding college coach for 28 years, 21 as an offensive coordinator. He coached at Marshall University, SMU, Southern Mississippi, University of Mississippi, Texas Tech, Lamar University, Sam Houston State, Rice, and Southwest Oklahoma.
